The 55th Festival acadien de Clare is in full swing!
Meteghan River, NS – Last Thursday, on July 29th, the Festival acadien de Clare began with an outdoor concert and was followed by a week-end full of activities. Thousands of people have already participated in the events and the following weeks will continue to provide Clare residents and visitors with the opportunity to celebrate Acadian culture at its best.
More than doubling last year's numbers, the 55th Festival acadien de Clare's opening concert attracted over 1,400 participants. Local musicians paid tribute to the late Herb LeBlanc and got the crowd dancing and singing along. The legendary group 1755 followed and kept the energy going for over two hours, occasionally accompanied by la Baie en Joie. On Saturday July 31st, the second of four outdoor concerts took place and another 1,100 people joined in the celebration. The parade with over 50 entries and bazaar with 46 booths on August 1st drew a large crowd of over 7,000 people from all over. In its first five days, the Festival has already had over 14,000 participants and in the following days will continue to offer a wide variety of activities for people of all ages.
