Join us in kicking off the 62nd Festival acadien de Clare at the Opening Ceremony! There will be live music presented by Cy. Composed of three locals from Saint Mary’s Bay and one Acadian from Moncton, they are able to successfully unite the folk, progressive and traditional styles to create a sound that’s both warm and harmonic.

Children's Acadian Parade

Youth ages 12 and under are invited to participate in the annual Children's Acadian Parade, which will start at the Stella Maris Church and will end at the Villa Acadienne, Meteghan. Prizes will be given to the best groups! Participants and families are invited to stay afterwards for a snack. In case of rain, the activity will be held on Thursday, August 3rd.

Using a collection of photos, images and artifacts, Delbé Comeau will discuss the shipbuilding industry of Saint Mary's Bay during the era of great sailing ships. A former mariner and First Mate/Relieving Captain of the world-famous Bluenose II, Delbé has become fascinated by the building, the folklore and the heritage associated with the numerous vessels built in the shipyards of this region. Activity in french only. (Initiative: Société historique acadienne de la Baie Sainte-Marie)

Festival Hike

This hike is a tradition in the Festival's history. A great opportunity to discover the panoramic views of Saint Mary's Bay. Please bring snacks and water. We also recommend that you wear long pants. Perfume-free environnement, including bug repellant and sunscreen. There will be scent free bug repellant and sunscreen on location. Please note: The trail is muddy in certain areas.

Flag Raising

Picnic at Pointe-à-Major

Oyez, Oyez! Come celebrate the Acadian national holiday on August 15th during our Acadian Festival in this 150th year of Canada at the little Chapel situated at Pointe-à-Major in Belliveau's Cove. The mass will be at 11am with hymns by Stephen Gaudet, followed by a barbecue chicken dinner at 12pm and music by Christal Thibault. Prizes to be won at our games, a fish pond, roses, etc.! Bring your chairs to this beautiful historic site and enjoy the festivities!

In case of rain, the activity will be held in Saint Bernard's church basement.

Tintamarre

Tintamarre is an Acadian tradition of marching or driving through one's community making noise with improvised instruments and other noisemakers, in celebration of National Acadian Day. Choose from two starting points (Saint Bernard's Church or Salmon River Fire Hall) and participate in this fun Acadian celebration while making as much noise as possible! The location of the arrival is Université Sainte-Anne, Church Point. Your participation is much appreciated. Following the rules of the road is required for the safety of all our participants, including wearing seat belts.
